Overview:
RMP Sunnyside is seeking a dedicated and passionate Middle School Head Soccer Coach to lead our soccer program. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of soccer fundamentals, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team environment.
Season
March 17th - May 30th
3-5 hours per week for practices and games (2-3 practices a week 1 game per week) and an additional 1 hour per week for planning purposes.
In this role, you will…
- Develop and implement practice plans that focus on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Organize and lead daily practices and workouts, ensuring a safe and engaging environment for all participants.
- Conduct team meetings to discuss strategy, goals, and expectations.
- Prepare the team for games by developing game plans and coordinating logistics.
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team progress and any issues that arise.
- Promote a culture of respect, teamwork, and inclusion among all team members.
- Monitor the academic performance of student-athletes and promote the importance of balancing academics and athletics.
- Support the development of leadership skills among team members.
- Attend all games and represent the school positively in the community.
- Ensure compliance with school and league policies and regulations.
- Supervise and be responsible for the equipment in your sport, including handing out and collecting uniforms.
- Maintains appropriate supervision of his/her program at all times (locker rooms, practices, events, bus rides, etc.). Supervises any and all space used by athletes while they are present, including post-game and post-practice.
- Assures that the team will always reflect the proper attitude and conduct.
- Represents the school professionally in demeanor, language, and conduct.
- Any ad hoc duties assigned by the Athletic Director.
Qualifications
Required:
- Strong knowledge of soccer techniques, strategies, and rules.
- Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience preferred, demonstrable understanding of the sport seeking to coach
- Teamwork and teambuilding skills
- Ability to pass a background check
Preferred:
- Previous coaching experience, preferably at the middle school level or higher.
- First Aid/CPR certification
- Speaks Spanish
- Demonstrated success working with students from historically marginalized communities
Compensation
RMP employs coach positions as part-time, salaried, non-exempt positions. The intended total compensation will be $2,500, paid in equal monthly installments during the duration of the coaching role.
