Reporting to the Superintendent, Operations & Mechanical, the Logistics Coordinator is an integral team member of Rocky Mountaineer team. The Logistics Coordinator will monitor the usage and stock of merchandise, products, and supplies to ensure availability of products for our teams and our guests. This position will be responsible to purchase supplies for the train, track shipments, and ensure all invoices pertaining to purchases and shipping are tracked. This position will perform basic administration functions as well as ensuring contractors are performing within their contracted scope of work and communicating with contract leads to ensure all aspects of contracts are being adhered to.

This position is deemed Safety Alert and pre-employment testing will be required. This position requires you to periodically access an active railway area where impaired performance could result in a significant incident affecting the health and safety of team members, guests, the public, property, or the environment.
Key Areas of Accountability
Logistical Functions:

  • Receive, Record, and Track incoming and outgoing deliveries within the RM network
  • Ensure accurate invoicing; shipping statements to packing slips. Support product flow through the supply chain, that is, from supplier to end user
  • Track movement of all products to ensure on time delivery
  • Maintain inventory accuracy with proper documentation, product placement, and cycle counts
  • Work proactively with suppliers and purchasers to ensure timely returns of defective or incorrect shipments, credits, cores, etc.

Forecasting and Efficiency Management:

  • Assess the needs of the business through cycle counts and requests from stakeholders
  • Negotiate cost savings and efficiencies for shipping contracts, logistics agreements
  • Use all available tools and resources to forecast guest projections and how that impacts overall services (ex. cleaning) or need for additional resources
  • Continue to gauge changing needs as operations are either ramped up or down depending on sales

Stakeholder Management:

  • Assist internal departments in the coordination of their deliveries and other logistics requirements
  • Develop, update, and communicate train servicing schedules to vendors and/or contractors
  • Evaluate and foster positive relationships with shipping companies, international brokers, vendors, and suppliers

Safety:

  • Comply with all General Code of Operating Rules (GCOR), and General Operating Instructions (GOI), and all other safety policies, procedures & rules
  • Identify & report safety hazards, escalate unsafe conditions to management or H&S Committee
  • Must wear required PPE as prescribed by Rocky Mountaineer and host railways
  • Maintain basic first aid level provided by Rocky Mountaineer
  • Ensure equipment used to perform job functions is inspected and in safe operating condition

Operations:

  • Support the successful execution of the RM Maintenance Model and Operating Plan
  • Support movements of RM products to RM trains, rail equipment, and network sites
  • Ensure all business needs are met in a timely, efficient manner
  • Support 5S Lean methodology to seek continuous improvement efficiencies
  • Provides support during Emergency Operations (EOC)

Mechanical:

  • Support the maintenance of RM facilities, storage, and shop areas
  • Lead the completion of storage and facility work orders on brand safely and efficiently
  • Ensure storage related equipment is functional and maintained
  • Provide support to various projects as the situation arises
  • Required to train for and perform safely additional duties to support the successful execution of the operating plan

Qualifications
Education, Certification, Licenses

  • Certification in Purchasing or Logistics (CPM or CLM) or equivalent relative experience
  • Forklift license
  • Valid US Driver’s License (addition Classes A, B, C considered an asset)
  • First Aid certification is an asset

Experience

  • 2 -3 years Supply Chain, Logistics / Warehouse experience
  • Experience with accounts payables and receivables functions is required
  • 5S or Lean Experience an asset

Skills

  • High attention to detail, analytical & critical thinking skills required
  • Proficient with MS Office suite, knowledge in Enterprise Asset Management software; is an asset

  • Physical demands may require lifting to 80 lbs. on occasion
  • Rail industrial site that requires walking and sitting throughout the day
  • 24/7 operation that may require varied work schedules
  • Indoor/outdoor working environment
  • PPE required

Salary

  • Salary: $21.50 - $23.50/hour
  • Eligible for Rocky Mountaineers Short Term Incentive Plan (STIP) at target of 7.5%

Covid-19 Vaccination
