Core Functions :
Maintain a constant level of professional etiquette, treating all with respect and the appropriate attention to meet expectations and needs.Serve in a collaborative role for the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence (CTLE), working closely with other key stakeholders to continuously enhance its impact on promoting best teaching and learning practices. This includes, but is not limited to, contributing expertise in the following areas :Design and management of the CTLE website, including content creation, e.g., instructional materials, videos, and related instructional technology information for faculty.
Participation in Faculty Development initiatives, including but not limited to :Presenting at webinars, workshops, and seminars.
Managing the Faculty Newsletter periodical.Chair / Co-Chair of the RMU Faculty Development and Teaching Effectiveness committees.Membership in Quality Matters.Assist in analyzing teaching effectiveness data (online course design reviews, onsite classroom observations, instructor / course evaluations, etc) to drive faculty development initiativesNew faculty training and instruction via the New Faculty Online Orientation, mentoring, and support.Collaborate with IT and the Educational Technology team to choose, launch, and support educational technology tools and initiatives.Development of new resources to support faculty in all aspects of teaching and learningConsult with faculty on individual development of teaching techniques, development of course materials, and other course design elements as requestedBackground / Expertise :
A bachelor’s degree in education, educational technology, instructional design, or a related area is required; a master’s degree is preferred.3 years of experience promoting the effective use of technology and a history of leading successful efforts / initiatives related to technology-enhanced learning, teaching, and assessment.Experience in consulting with instructors across disciplines and teaching contexts.Knowledge of the current educational climate and higher education industry, particularly related to ongoing changes and advances in learning technologies and their myriad uses.Knowledge of learning science as it relates to adult learning environments—understanding of efficient methods to facilitate and support higher education faculty in best practices of graduate-level teaching.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and statistical software, and previous experience with databases and management at an institutional level.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with multiple constituencies and stakeholders of all levels in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interpret and disseminate data-based insights to influence at all levels of an organization.Best practices in technical project management and in the design of learning technologies and learning ecosystems.Advanced computer and technology user skills and the ability to quickly learn and develop expertise with new technologies.RMU is an equal-opportunity employer.
