Job Overview
As a Construction Superintendent at RoCon Construction, you will be the backbone of our on-site operations, overseeing all aspects of construction projects from start to finish. You will manage daily activities, coordinate subcontractors, ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, and maintain strong communication with project stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
- Project Oversight: Manage all on-site construction activities, ensuring adherence to project schedules, budgets, and specifications.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and coordinate subcontractors, laborers, and vendors, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Quality Control: Ensure all work meets or exceeds industry standards, client expectations, and regulatory requirements, particularly those specific to medical facilities.
- Safety Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to OSHA regulations and company safety protocols to maintain a safe job site.
- Scheduling & Coordination: Develop and maintain project schedules, coordinating material deliveries, inspections, and subcontractor timelines.
- Client & Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, and engineers, providing regular updates and resolving issues promptly.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate daily logs, progress reports, and other project documentation to support project tracking and compliance.
- Problem Solving: Anticipate and address challenges proactively, implementing solutions to keep projects on track.
- Physical Performance: Willing to be a working superintendent to aid in-house labor as needed. Ability to perform basic carpentry functions are a plus.
- Mental Focus: Ability to coordinate more than a single project depending on size.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years as a Construction Superintendent or similar role, with at least 2 years in medical or healthcare construction projects.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associates or bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and construction documents. Familiarity with construction management software (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid) is a plus.
- Certifications: OSHA 30-Hour Certification, additional certifications (e.g., First Aid/CPR, LEED) are a plus.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations, particularly those related to medical facilities (e.g., infection control, HIPAA compliance).
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead diverse teams, manage conflicts, and motivate others to achieve project goals.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work in various weather conditions, lift up to 50 lbs., and navigate active construction sites.
- Availability: Willingness to travel within the Iowa City region and work occasional evenings or weekends as project needs require.
