JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for providing responsive care, effective teaching, and an organized learning environment that promotes healthy development and children’s school readiness skill growth aligned with Head Start and state standards, including children with disabilities.
EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in the field of Early Childhood Education/Child Development
- OR
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with coursework equivalent to a major in Early Childhood Education/Child Development
- OR
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in the field of Elementary Education
- One year of experience teaching preschool-aged children
- Florida Educator’s certificate in Early Childhood Education, Prekindergarten/Primary, or Preschool Education
- Completion of 15-hours of state-required Emergent Literacy Course and Implementing the Florida Standards in Preschool Classrooms: 3 Years Old to Kindergarten
- OR
- Completion of Reading Endorsement Competency I and Implementing the Florida Standards in Preschool Classrooms: 3 Years Old to Kindergarten
- Satisfactory completion of First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course for infants and toddlers within 3 months of hire
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- All hires must meet the Early Childhood physical examination requirements.
Current and former parents or guardians of children served by the Head Start program will receive preference for employment in Head Start vacancies for which they apply.
Candidates with an eligible 2023-24 Effective or High Effective State VAM comprised of at least 10 student assessments that provide direct instruction to students during the 2024-25 school year will be eligible to receive funds through the UniSIG Supplemental Teacher Allocation. The allocation will provide up to $7,500 for those with an Effective state VAM rating and up to $15,000 for those with a highly effective state VAM rating
