Project Accountant

Job Description:

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Project Accountant to join our team at a fast-paced construction company. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in project accounting, preferably within the construction industry. This individual will play a key role in managing the financial aspects of construction projects from start to finish, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations, and providing essential support to project managers and senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee project financials, including job costing, budgets, and forecasting for multiple construction projects.
• Process invoices, track payments, and ensure accurate billing to clients and subcontractors.
• Prepare and review monthly financial reports, including cost reports, P&Ls, and progress billing reports.
• Collaborate with project managers and other departments to track project expenses and address any discrepancies or concerns.
• Assist in preparing subcontractor payment applications and manage retention and release processes.
• Ensure compliance with contract terms, company procedures, and relevant accounting standards.
• Support in the preparation of project audits and provide necessary documentation to internal and external auditors.
• Perform general accounting tasks, such as journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3 years of experience in project accounting, preferably in the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, job costing, and contract billing.
• Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Procore, Sage, Viewpoint) and MS Excel.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with diverse teams.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
