THIS IS A LONG-TERM SUB POSITION to fill a temporary vacancy that will finish on the last day of the 2024-2025 school year.
Under direction of the school principal and/or appropriate supervisor, the LTS (Long Term Substitute) will gain essential and meaningful teaching experience. Excellent performance in this capacity will position a teacher well to compete for permanent teaching positions in Providence Schools and elsewhere.
Compensation and benefits for this position are equal to the compensation and benefits of a regular teacher including salary according to the Providence teacher salary scale (including during school vacation) on a step determined by previous teaching experience (credit given for experience in accredited schools and/or in a certified capacity). The Rhode Island Right to Read Act was passed in July of 2019 and requires educators to exhibit either proficiency in or awareness of the knowledge and practices of the Science of Reading and Structured Literacy. The (IMP) program is a program within the Career and Technical Education Arts, Media, and Communication Career Cluster. Under the direction of the Principal, the Interactive Media Production Teacher will facilitate student comprehension and application of concepts, skills and behaviors that contributes to core academic and technical skill proficiency, leading to an industry credential or certifications and/or post-secondary credit; Provides a strong foundation in audio/visual communication media with particular emphasis on marketing, design, social media, interactive technologies, and project development; Provides simulated work environments (digital and real) for students to apply audio/visual skills using Adobe Creative Suite and Final Cut Pro, or equivalent.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in applicable field of education preferred
- Minimum five (5) years of recent (within last seven (7) years) trade based or equivalent full-time employment directly related to audio/visual and interactive digital communication, and social media Audio/visual industry certification and digital portfolio of experience required
- Record of involvement in professional organizations and community relations preferred
- Experience with digital audio and video recording, editing, and production required
- Must be willing to earn Adobe instructor certification within one year.
- Industry certification and demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, AV production software, PC and Mac based computer applications, Microsoft Office, applications, e-mail, Web applications, and AV industry-specific technology.
- Five years documented work in the Audio/Visual industry sector.
RIDE Certification Requirements:
- Adobe Systems and Final Cut Pro (or equivalent) certification Or Must possess or be eligible to obtain a RI Vocational Education Teaching Certificate.
ESL Certification Preferred
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides foundational instruction in audio/visual media production
- Fosters and coordinates creative process for digital production and interactive media
- Understands and applies effective research-based instructional strategies and best practices to ensure student academic and technical success
- Participates as part of an interdisciplinary team to integrate core academic and CTE curriculum to produce academic content enhanced lessons
- Develops and maintains a business plan for the Interactive Media lab
- Prepares the annual Perkins grant application narrative and budget, develops bid specifications
- Assists building administrator in obtaining Rhode Island Department of Education CTE Program
- Approval, NEASC accreditation, and/or industry accreditation
- Participates in all district and school's based professional development activities
- Provides rigorous and relevant instruction on approved hands' on curriculum in the content area and general work' place readiness through school-based, simulated work experiences
- Maintains a learning lab classroom conducive to work place experiences that expose students to real world work in the communications industry
- Prepare students for and participate in the annual Skills USA competitions
- Administers a variety of formative and summative student assessment tools
- Prepares lessons that encourage and foster creativity and innovation, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication
- Develops and maintains positive and cooperative interactions and communications with parents, colleagues and community
- Takes all necessary and safety precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities.
- Maintains accurate and complete records as required by the district and state laws.
- Maintains and updates required industry certifications.
- Keeps current with emerging trends and standards National Workforce Center for Emerging Technologies (NWCET), and the Electronic Document Systems Foundation (EDSF)
Salary : $46,811 - $88,236
