POSITION OVERVIEW
The Export Representative plays a pivotal role in facilitating export transactions for our clients, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations, and delivering top-notch customer service. This role requires an understanding of the freight forwarding export process, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage client relationships effectively.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Export Bookings: Create bookings and ensure cargo is moving timely to meet all export cutoffs. Understand the routing of freight. Correspond directly with carriers to make the booking and ensure accuracy of the confirmed booking.
2. Dispatch: Coordinating trucking movements as needed.
3. Shipping Instructions: Submit EEI (electronic export information) filings, complete and send shipping instructions to carriers.
4. Documentation: Prepare, review, and process export documentation. Create export bills of lading with necessary documentation and send them to appropriate parties.
5. Invoicing: Responsible for properly billing clients and vetting payments to vendors according to company policy.
6. Export Compliance: Ensure that all export transactions adhere to relevant international and domestic regulations, including export controls, sanctions, and licensing requirements.
7. Client Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients engaged in export activities, building, and maintaining strong client relationships with excellent customer service.
8. Data Integrity: Accurately input data into the system and maintain organized and comprehensive records of export transactions, supporting audit and compliance efforts.
9. Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with changes in export regulations, industry trends, and best practices, actively suggesting process improvements.
10. Team Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues to ensure the smooth execution of export operations.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
· High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in international trade or a related field is a plus.
· Preferred minimum of 1 year of experience in customs brokerage or export operations, with a strong emphasis on export documentation and client management.
· Knowledge of export regulations, freight forwarding, and export documentation are preferred.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a client-centric mindset.
· Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to accuracy.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. CargoWise experience is a plus.
· Ability to work effectively in a team and independently, taking ownership of export transactions.
· Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or Certified Export Specialist (CES) certification is a plus.
