Field Heavy Equipment Mechanic
We are looking to hire an experienced heavy equipment field mechanic with good attention to detail, who takes pride in their work. Applicants will need to be able to inspect, service, and maintain a wide range of medium and heavy-duty construction equipment. As a field mechanic, you will be responsible for driving to the job site, diagnosing, inspecting, repairing, and providing routine maintenance for customer’s equipment.
Heavy Equipment Mechanic Responsibilities:
- Care and maintenance of a service vehicle with crane.
- Inspecting trucks, loaders, bulldozers, and other heavy equipment for proper performance.
- Diagnosing faults using manual and computerized testing equipment.
- Adjusting equipment and replacing faulty parts.
- Repairing damaged equipment parts.
- Cleaning, lubricating, and conducting routine services on heavy-duty equipment and vehicles.
- Cleaning and servicing of work equipment like winches, blades, and booms.
- Performing major repair work when necessary.
- Consulting with other mechanics on difficult jobs.
- Reporting damaged or faulty equipment to management and customers.
Heavy Equipment Mechanic Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Certification as a heavy equipment mechanic a plus.
- Proven work experience as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic.
- Understanding of computer testing technologies.
- Ability to lift heavy parts.
- Extensive knowledge of diesel engines and construction equipment.
- Ability to work after-hours if required.
- Good communication skills.
- Good organizational skills.
**Duties:**
- Perform on-site troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on industrial equipment.
- Fabricate and install new components as needed.
- Utilize knowledge of HVAC/R systems and hydraulics to diagnose issues accurately.
- Use voltmeters and other tools to test electrical systems.
- Maintain accurate records of all service calls using CMMS.
- Provide exceptional customer service during all interactions.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure timely completion of service requests.
**Requirements:**
- Proven experience in field service or industrial maintenance.
- Strong understanding of HVAC/R systems and hydraulics.
- Proficiency in using voltmeters and other diagnostic tools.
- Familiarity with CMMS software for tracking maintenance activities.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
