Rogers Group Inc. is currently seeking an Heavy Equipment Operator (Workforce Development Program) in the Huntsville, AL / North Alabama operations area, Alabama SMA reporting to the Area Construction & Superintendent. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to lead safety, quality, and revenue generation throughout our existing operations and additional operations through growth.

Job Details:

• Wages start at $22.00hr, Starting wage based on experience.
• Fulltime/Permanent

• Weekend work may be required

Job Responsibilities:

• Operate heavy equipment to complete grading and fine grading tasks.
• Ability to learn operate equipment with a high degree of competency, skill, and proficiency and in challenging and unique terrain environments.
• Perform servicing and maintenance of equipment as trained and directed by management.
• Perform daily pre-and post- inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies.
• Effective communication skills applicable to position.
• Properly follow all company policies and OSHA / MSHA / Environmental regulations for safe working procedures and environment.

Qualifications:

• Complete an accredited Certification Course for heavy equipment (Dozer, Excavator, or Skid Steer)
• Individual must be dedicated to working safely at all times
• Ability to learn GPS control
• Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and nights when necessary
• Team player
• Valid driver’s license
• Additional:
• Distinguish and understand signals.
• Ability to learn to read and understand grade stakes.
• Use both hands and feet at the same time.
• Work in an environment with noise levels that may require hearing protection.
• Must be able to hear and understand commands from supervisors, warnings from fellow workers, and alarms on equipment.
• Able to use mechanic’s hand tools and tape measure.
• Able to crawl and climb on, over, under and inside construction equipment.
• Lift and carry objects and materials of various weights up to 100 pounds.
• Good vision, both close-up and long-distance, and ability to look forward, side to side, and toward the rear of equipment.
• Must have good reliable transportation to make it to and from work.
• Self-motivated individual - must be able to perform required duties independently, without constant supervision.
• Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and extended hours as needed.
• Must be able to work outside in all types of weather and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
• Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
• Able to provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration requirement.
• Must be Drug Free and able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and possess a Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.

35-hour Weather Guarantee after 30 days of employment, must be available to work 6 days during the seven-day work period. Hours guaranteed, up to 35 hours (example: worked 20hrs, Actual Pay 35hrs; worked 38hrs, Actual Pay 38hrs). Weather pay is accrued on weekly accumulation, not hours per day. Holiday pay counts toward the 35-hour guarantee.
