POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide students with high impact career resources. Assist undecided students in finding an academic program offered at Rogers State University that aligns with their skills, interests, and career goals. Plan, implement, and evaluate career development programs and recruitment events. Cultivate relationships with RSU academic departments, employers and graduate school contacts, to connect students to a meaningful career, internship, and/or graduate school opportunities.
PRIMARY DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Using effective career counseling techniques, guide students to explore RSU majors, utilizing RSU’s Career Assessment tool;
- Partner with academics to customize RSU’s career assessment tool to align with available majors, degrees, and certificate options;
- Collaborate with advisors to assist students in making connections with faculty and professionals in their chosen major;
- Actively communicate career services updates to all RSU students, faculty, and staff;
- Each semester coordinate RSU career events for the University;
- Support regional career and job fair programming;
- Guide students in writing resumes and other professional correspondence, preparing for an interview, applying to graduate school, and developing a career search strategy;
- Maintain knowledge of industry standards for career development professionals, employment research, and occupational information;
- Create, present, and evaluate career-related workshops, classroom presentations, and programs;
- Promote high-quality internships, part-time jobs, and career opportunities for students;
- Update and maintain RSU’s career services outreach campaigns and digital media;
- Oversee a budget, maintain financial records, and monitor office expenditures for Career Services;
- Participate in University recruitment and orientation events;
- Contribute as an active member of the Student Affairs team;
- Serving on University committees assigned;
- Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs or Vice President.

SUPERVISION GIVEN TO: Student Assistant(s) as assigned
HOURS: 8:00am – 5:00pm, M-F; evenings and weekends on occasion
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: FLSA Non-exempt; 12-month position
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Strong oral and written communication skills;
- Exceptional organizational, planning and time management skills to successfully manage all facets of career services and related programs;
- Collegially network with RSU faculty, staff and employers;
- Excellent customer service and relationship management skills;
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and electronic career service platforms.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel, Counseling, Business, or related field;
- Experience working in a university career center, advising students, or developing programs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: (with or without accommodation)
- Ability to lift 20-40 lbs. on occasion;
- Ability to stand for 1-4 hours for events;
- Ability to sit for long periods of time;
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle (Oklahoma Class D license).
