POSITION SUMMARY:
The part-time faculty member’s primary responsibility is to teach assigned courses in accordance with the course description and syllabus established by the faculty and administered by the School of Nursing and Health Professions Associate Dean.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
Receives general supervision from the Associate Dean and Undergraduate Program Coordinator. Clinical nursing faculty collaborate with full-time course faculty as assigned.

PART-TIME APPOINTMENT:
Work commitment of approximately 20 hours per week. Four (4) office hours per week. Attendance at nursing faculty meetings.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Instruct, supervise, and evaluate students as agreed upon by full time faculty members within each discipline according to licensure and accreditation requirements; legal and ethical principles; and published evaluation tools;
- Promote safety for the student and faculty member (and client as applicable);
- Provide an updated syllabus (or segment of a syllabus if team teaching) at the beginning of each course to all students and to appropriate offices within the university;
- Maintain familiarity with current knowledge, skills, texts, instructional materials, teaching aids and techniques relative to courses within the discipline and recommend their adoption when appropriate;
- Maintain office hours according to the letter of appointment;
- Actively seek ways to improve instruction and participate in course team meetings and department meetings as appropriate;
- Communicate to full time faculty or department head timely, pertinent issues or concerns related to student progress;
- Maintain attendance and scholastic records as appropriate and submit required reports;
- Actively participate in assisting the university to maintain standards required for accreditation;
- If licensed, immediately report to the Department Head any complaints against his/her license, or any event that could impede relicensure;
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Experience and Training Guidelines;
- Present evidence of current practice with a minimum of two (2) years full time equivalent practice as a Registered Nurse in a clinical setting preceding the first date of first employment as a teacher.

Education:
- Master of Science Degree in Nursing
Licenses
- Hold a valid unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Oklahoma.
