What are the responsibilities and job description for the CDL Instructor (Adjunct Faculty Pool) position at Rogue Community College?
This is an adjunct faculty pool for teaching in the Workforce Training Commercial Truck Driver Training department. The pool will remain open until June 2025 unless positions are no longer needed. Applications will be reviewed and candidates will be contacted and interviewed as positions become available.
Instructor is responsible for carrying out the structured learning processes for students in the Commercial Truck Driving (CTD) Training Program. Teaches students all phases of truck driving, and maintains records and communication with the appropriate RCC staff.
Supervision Received
The Director, in consultation with the Training Services Coordinator (TSC) is responsible for carrying out the evaluation of instructors under procedures developed by the Vice President. The Director confers with the TSC in decisions regarding instructor assignment and retention.

Knowledge of: Current commercial truck driving industry requirements.
Ability to: Communicate effectively and respectfully with colleagues and students from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds including non-traditional adult learners as well as teens; work collaboratively as a member of the Continuing Education Department; demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching; participate in curriculum development; organize effective lessons; advise students; work with college and agency partners; demonstrate experience or potential for innovation and creativity in both the classroom and related educational duties, including the use of new curriculum and technologies; demonstrate a commitment to professional standards and growth.
Pass a criminal background check.
Licenses: Valid CDL Class A License, Current DOT Medical Card.
For a typical continuing education course, manual dexterity and coordination are required for about half of the daily work period which is spent instructing students in a classroom lab or other setting, and sitting while operating office equipment such as computers, keyboards, 10-key, telephones, and other standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach, bend, kneel, stoop, twist, crouch, climb, balance, see, talk, hear, and manipulate objects. The position requires some mobility including the ability to move materials less than 5 pounds daily, 5-25 pounds occasionally, and 25-60 pounds rarely. This position requires both verbal and written communication abilities. Some community education courses may have additional physical demands related to the nature of the course.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is typically working indoors in a motor vehicle or in an office. In an indoor office environment the employee is not exposed to hazardous conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and lighting is adequate. The instructor may be exposed to different working conditions due to the nature of the course, content, and location.
