Role :
The Network Engineer I is responsible for installing, upgrading, troubleshooting, documenting, and monitoring Rogue Credit Union's (RCU) Enterprise Information Technology (IT) Network Infrastructure. This includes all aspects of RCU's WAN, LAN, Wireless, Telecommunication, and firewall environments. Working as an effective member of the team, they will act as tier III support in addition to managing, executing and communicating projects of various complexity. They must stay up to date with and follow the latest networking technologies and best practices.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities :
35% Manage and maintain Rogue's critical network Infrastructure. Install, upgrade, migrate and decommission routers, switches, gateways, APs and all other network and firewall devices. Diagnose and troubleshoot errors and performance issues.
25% Proactively monitors and tunes the network environment to ensure availability and peak performance levels. Create and maintain management dashboards, alerts, and reports. Conduct Disaster Recovery (DR) and High Availability (HA) testing in accordance with the Disaster Recovery Program.
20% Establish policies and procedures to ensure a high level of confidentiality, integrity, and availability of databases. Execute comprehensive vulnerability management program. Follow industry best practices and frameworks ensuring systems meet performance, security, and compliance requirements.
5% Manage and execute projects of various severity and complexity. Evaluate new and emerging technology in support of RCU initiatives and to align with organizational goals and objectives.
10% Creates and maintains comprehensive overall infrastructure documentation and diagrams to facilitate problem resolution, support of the infrastructure, and future planning.
5% Proactively completes other duties as needed or assigned.
Knowledge & Skills :
Experience : Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
Education : Equivalent to a college degree (BS or BA in a relevant field). Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, or related field, or a combination of education and experience. Technical certifications a plus.
Interpersonal Skills : Work involves much personal contact with others inside and / or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
Other Skills : Comprehensive skills in networking, firewalls, and telecommunications. Technologies include Network (Aruba, Cisco, Juniper) routing, switching, wireless, WAN / Internet / MPLS, SD-WAN, VPN, firewalls (Palo Alto), telecommunications (VoIP, SIP, PRI / POTS), Cloud Computing (Azure, AWS), backup / recovery / replication technologies.
Must be highly productive, with the ability to automate systems and technologies to maximize efficiency and uptime. Must be able to work independently, under general guidance, on smallu2014to medium-sized projects, effectively communicating progress. Self-motivated and able to prioritize work and reconcile competing schedules. Demonstrate an exceptionally high aptitude and positive attitude. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across multiple technologies.
Contributes to the continuous improvement process within the department, proposes and assists in the development of new processes & procedures.
Physical Requirements : Some adjusting or moving objects up to 30 pounds in all directions. Must be able to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and / or fingers while using the computer. Communicating with others to exchange information. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and make fine discernments in sound. Close and continuous visual acuity to perform activities such as : preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.
Work Environment : This job is an exempt position that requires flexibility in scheduling tasks and projects. The employee must independently monitor hours and judge the time needed to be spent on applicable duties. Employee must be capable of adjusting to unpredictable schedules proactively. As a direct representative of the Credit Union, the employee must conduct and present themselves courteously and professionally. Exposed to potentially hazardous conditions, i.e., robbery. Travel to all Credit Union regions may be required.
