Role
Performs duties relating to the financial processes to maintain accountability of the financial resources for the credit union. Assists with the month-end closing process, preparation for audits and annual regulatory exams. Responsible for complex GL reconciliations. Responsible for maintaining accounting records or accounts payable processing. Upholds Rogue's Vision, Mission, Values, and Service Promises.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
45% Performs complex duties relating to credit union accounting. Prepares moderately complex daily, monthly and yearly spreadsheets and reports. Analyzes accounting documents for accuracy. Traces and investigates transactions to resolve questionable data and takes corrective action when necessary. Assists with preparing supporting work papers for the quarterly Form 5300. Assists with preparing supporting work papers for auditors, examiners, and tax reporting.
20% Assists with month-end closing processes. Prepares and enters journal entries in the general ledger system. Prepares complex general ledger reconciliations. Prepares general ledger reconciliations for other accounts as assigned. Maintains and reconciles sub ledgers as needed.
15% Performs review and posting of accounts payable batches and provides supervisory support to staff.
10% Assists in the design and implementation of departmental improvements and changes.
5% Oversees and coordinates the filing of periodic required reports which may include: 1099 and 945 Forms, FRB reports, FHLB reports or other regulatory reporting.
5% Proactively performs other duties as needed or assigned.
Knowledge And Skills
Experience: Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
Education: Equivalent to a college degree (BS or BA in a relevant field). Accounting, General Business, Finance preferred. WCMS graduate desired.
Interpersonal Skills: Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
Other Skills: Basic math skills. 10-key calculator by touch. Computer proficient with Microsoft Office; excellent Excel/spreadsheet software skills, Keyboarding skills. Good organizational and time management skills; able to manage workload/meet deadlines. Good eye for detail and accuracy. Thorough. Good communication skills; excellent telephone skills with the ability to obtain/relay information. Must display flexibility with work.
Physical Requirements: Some adjusting or moving objects up to 30 pounds in all directions. Must be able to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers while using computer. Communicating with others to exchange information. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and make fine discernments in sound. Close and continuous visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.
Work Environment: Normal workday with occasional overtime. Exposed to potentially hazardous conditions, i.e., robbery.
