Job Overview:
Rogue Earthworx is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Stakeside Pickup Truck Driver to support wildland firefighting operations. This position plays a crucial role in transporting personnel, equipment, and supplies to remote fire locations while ensuring safety and efficiency in extreme environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate a stakeside pickup truck to transport firefighting personnel, tools, fuel, water, and other essential supplies to and from fire locations.
- Navigate rugged and off-road terrain while maintaining vehicle safety.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and perform basic maintenance to ensure operational readiness.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and company safety regulations and protocols.
- Assist in loading and unloading firefighting equipment and supplies.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, fire crews, and other team members regarding logistics and operational needs.
- Provide support to wildland fire crews as needed, including setting up water tanks and assisting with logistical tasks.
- Operate fire radios for clear and effective communication with fire crews and dispatch.
- Proper fire gear, including fire-resistant clothing, gloves, boots, helmet, and other necessary PPE, must be worn at all times when on the fireline.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (CDL preferred but not required).
- Previous experience driving in off-road, rugged terrain preferred.
- Ability to work long shifts in extreme weather conditions and hazardous environments.
- Familiarity with wildland firefighting operations, safety protocols, and equipment is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to rapidly changing conditions.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment (50 lbs).
- RT-130 must be complete for year 2025 By June 1st
Preferred Qualifications:
- Mechanical knowledge for minor vehicle repairs and troubleshooting.
- Experience working in emergency response or firefighting environments.
- Experience operating fire radios and understanding proper communication protocols during firefighting operations.
- Have your own Fire boots NFPA 1977. We can assist with Yellows/Greens
