Fish Processor – Kenai Alaska
Fish processor jobs ultimately entail handling raw, fresh product from commercial fishing vessels to processing, packaging and transport lines.
Fresh product is transported from commercial fishing vessels to moving conveyors and/or sorting stations. Product is then subjected to heading/gutting machines, gutting, cleaning, filleting, portioning, packing/freezing, roe processing, and shipping.
Employees will be placed in positions requiring any of the following:
- Work shifts vary, but may be 12 hours or more, depending on the fishing schedule
- Uneven work shifts that result in irregular sleep patterns
- Lifting at least 30 pounds
- Standing in place for long periods
- Working in a cold, wet industrial warehouse settings like on fillet lines, in freezers, in refrigerators, or outside in cold/wet dock and loading environments
- Working on uneven surfaces that are wet and/or slick
- Standing, bending, kneeling, twisting, reaching continuously
- Repetitive motions specifically involving the hands, arms, legs, and neck
- Using of fillet knives and other sharp hand tools
- Using mechanized cutting and gutting tools
- Working around moving and energized conveyor systems
- Working around loud machinery
- Working with and/or around forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes, lifts, and other heavy machinery
Employees may be required to fill out a medical questionnaire and undergo a drug screen prior to employment
