What you will be doing:
As a therapeutic reaction assistant, you will participate in resident activities in our residential care and long-term care neighborhoods. Duties include:
- Designing/planning/facilitating structured (and/or impromptu) programs for residents,
- Maintaining proper activity documentation,
- Transporting residents to activities,
- Maintaining/developing innovative/appropriate therapeutic recreation programming,
- Maintaining/implementing activity schedules, and
- Other duties as assigned.
What we are looking for:
- Ability to uphold our core values, and follow policies and procedures.
- Must be able to take initiative to always find a way to say yes to both our residents and staff.
- Able to work a flexible schedule, have reliable transportation, and be on time for scheduled shifts.
- Most importantly have a positive attitude and be able to smile at all times (even under a mask).
- An associate degree or bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
- Two years working with the geriatric population.
- Previous experience leading groups of people with varying levels of physical/cognitive independence.
- Prefer CTRS/NCCAP certification.
- Activities Assistants work under the direction of the Therapeutic Recreation Manager in the organization, development, and implementation of the community activity programs. They also assist the Therapeutic Recreation manager in providing entertainment, inter-communication, socialization, exercise, relaxation, and opportunities for creativity.
- Assist with many activity programs held daily, to improve the quality of life through promotion of physical, mental, and spiritual well being
- Work with volunteers during activities
- Orient and supervise volunteers along with Therapeutic Recreation Manager.
- Document inventory of supplies
- Interview Resident for preference of daily interest
