Position Title: Special Education Teacher

Length of Work Year: 10 months
Position Summary:
The teacher will work to provide special education students with learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. The teacher will develop or modify curricula and prepare lessons and other instructional materials to student ability levels. They will work in self-contained, team, departmental, or itinerant capacity as assigned.
Position Requirements
Education/Certification/License: Valid Texas Certification/ Valid Special Education Certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills: Prior Special Education teaching experience preferred;
Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal committee process and Individual Education Plan goal setting process and implementation.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Provide instruction in all subject areas.
- Develop and implement student IEP goals and objectives
- Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
- Create a classroom environment conductive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
