The Hagen Group, a major manufacturer in the pet industry, is seeking a Manufacture's Sales Representative for the following region: New England, including MA, RI, CT, NH, ME & VT

Job purpose:

The Manufacture's Sales Representative is an outside sales position who will be responsible for increasing sales within their territory and will be expected to travel daily to their accounts. As a top priority, the ideal candidate will be responsible for increasing sales and SKU representations within their territory. They will be responsible for establishing contacts with existing customers, identifying new opportunities, and following up on potential leads. They will also monitor industry trends to identify emerging markets and develop plans to utilize those markets to expand revenue.

As a member of the sales team, the Manufacture's Sales Representative will be responsible for the following:

 

  • Responsible for monitoring trends and category analysis.
  • Responsible for high level multi box accounts.
  • Willingness to travel outside the geographical territory for purposes of attending conferences, training sessions, and/or area regional or national meetings.
  • Mentor new hires, assist with training (ride-alongs) and lead by example.
  • Negotiate pricing for customer orders.
  • Increase accounts by an established specific % each year while dealing with outside factors such as competitors and economic conditions and inside factors such as increasing cost of goods and MOGS, stock levels, and product mix.
  • Ensure that all processes and procedures are completed, quality standards are met, and that projects are profitable.
  • Meet with top netting customers through on the road visits to discuss assortments and gain competitor advantage.
  • Ability to show growth within existing accounts.
  • Maintain thorough understanding of the customers’ end user markets, their important customers, and their main competitors.
  • Develop key account plans for assigned accounts; implement account strategies.

 

Qualifications/experience:

  • Being able to travel with overnight stays up to 3 to 5 days per week.
  • Two-five years’ experience performing in the capacity of accounts management in the pet industry, wholesale or retail product sales preferred.
  • High volume account management skills.
  • Experience with full sales cycle (prospect, qualify, negotiate, sell/up-sell, close, follow-up, maintain).
  • Proven success in meeting or exceeding sales quotas.
  • Experience servicing assigned territory accounts.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a large sales team.
  • Possess the ability to generate and foster relationships with customers.
  • Strong negotiation, problem solving, planning and organizational skills.
