What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transport Operator position at Roll Group?
Purpose
Operate and maintain specialized heavy transport equipment, including but not limited to module trailers, dual-lanes, K25s, and 9-axle trailers, to safely load, move, and deliver oversized cargo. Support mobilization and demobilization activities while ensuring full compliance with local regulations, client requirements, and Roll Group’s internal safety and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities and key result area’s
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare and mobilize transport operations, including assembly and preparation of heavy-haul combinations.
- Load, unload, operate, and perform minor maintenance on module trailers, 9-axle setups, K25 modular trailers, highway giants, dual-lane trailers, and heavy transport trucks.
- Identify safety risks, apply prescribed safety measures, and ensure compliance with all regional transportation regulations.
- Conduct pre-move consultations with Senior Operators and supervisors to ensure clear operational understanding.
- Perform rigging and securement inspections, ensuring safety and compliance with project-specific load plans.
- Operate heavy haul combinations across varying terrains while meeting operational, legal, and environmental requirements.
- Assist with mobilization/demobilization activities, including jacking, pumping, carriage, and winch operations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve trailer and load issues during operations, ensuring minimal disruption to project timelines.
- Maintain accurate administrative records such as consignment notes, weekly statements, and equipment maintenance logs.
- Represent Roll Group's commitment to safety culture, professionalism, and client satisfaction at all times.
- Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned by manager or supervisor.
