Job Overview:
We are seeking a Commercial Driver (CDL) to operate our waste collection vehicles. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of waste and recyclables from residential, commercial, and industrial locations. This role involves interacting with customers and maintaining a high standard of service and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a commercial vehicle (trash truck, roll-off truck, etc.) to collect waste and recyclables.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal traffic laws and regulations.
- Follow assigned routes and schedules to ensure timely pickups.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles and report any maintenance or safety issues.
- Load, transport, and unload trash, recycling, and other waste materials at designated disposal facilities.
- Interact with customers in a professional and courteous manner, addressing any questions or concerns.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following procedures for handling hazardous materials, if applicable.
- Assist with additional tasks such as cleaning and maintaining the vehicle, reporting missed pickups, and documenting daily work logs.
- Communicate with dispatchers and other team members to ensure route efficiency and timely service.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including proper disposal of waste and recyclables.
Qualifications:
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class A or B with air brake endorsement.
- Clean driving record with no recent violations.
- Previous experience operating waste collection vehicles (preferred but not required).
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and effectively.
- Strong knowledge of local traffic laws and DOT regulations.
- Physical ability to lift heavy materials and perform manual labor for extended periods.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, etc.).
- Good communication and customer service skills.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Physical labor is required, including lifting and handling heavy loads.
- Early morning shifts and occasional weekend work may be required.
