The Spring Forming Technician is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining spring forming machines to produce high-quality springs according to precise specifications and production schedules. This role involves interpreting blueprints and technical drawings, conducting quality inspections, and ensuring adherence to safety standards.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

Machine Setup and Operation:
- Set up spring forming machines according to specifications, including tooling changes and adjustments for different spring designs
- Operate spring forming machines to produce springs from various materials (e.g., steel, stainless steel, titanium) in different configurations (compression, extension, torsion, etc.)
- Monitor and adjust machine parameters to ensure optimal performance and quality

Quality Control:
- Inspect produced springs for conformance to specifications using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments
- Identify and address defects or deviations from quality standards
- Maintain accurate records of quality checks and production data

Troubleshooting and Maintenance:
- Diagnose and troubleshoot machine malfunctions, making necessary repairs or adjustments to ensure continuous operation
- Perform routine maintenance on spring forming equipment, including lubrication, cleaning, and part replacements

Documentation and Reporting:
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine spring specifications and production requirements
- Document machine settings, maintenance activities, and production outputs in logs and reports
- Communicate with supervisors and engineering teams regarding production issues and improvement opportunities

Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
- Comply with company policies, industry regulations, and quality standards (e.g., ISO, AS9100)
- Participate in safety training and audits as required

Continuous Improvement:
- Suggest and implement process improvements to enhance production efficiency and product quality
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in spring forming technology
WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE:
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in machining or a related field is preferred
- 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing or machining environment, preferably with spring forming equipment
- Experience with CNC or automated spring forming machines is a plus. Torin, Aim and / or Fenn equipment
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical drawings
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to use precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
- Basic understanding of materials science and metallurgy related to spring production
- Knowledge of CNC programming and operation is an advantage
- Ability to lift and carry materials up to 50 lbs.
- Prolonged standing and manual dexterity required
- Visual acuity to inspect small parts and detailed drawings
- Ability to work in a manufacturing setting with exposure to noise, moving machinery, and potentially hazardous materials
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required
- Ability to work any shift, including nights and weekends, and overtime as required during peak production seasons
