Summary of Position
The Production Scheduler/Planner is responsible for effectively and efficiently coordinating the flow of material through Rolled Metal Products (RMP) - Northeast Service Center and the timely delivery of orders to customers.
Responsibilities and Duties
As a minimum, the following is a basic description of typical duties and responsibilities expected of the Production Scheduler/Planner position. These duties are not exhaustive and are subject to change as the needs of the organization require.
- Create the processing plan and apply material according to the order.
- Identify all orders for stock availability and coordinate with Inside Sales and Purchasing for orders with incoming stock due.
- Check off sales orders for compliance to customer specifications.
- Initiate RMP production orders.
- Detail all work to be completed and the setup necessary to ensure compliance to customer specifications.
- Schedule workflow by process as to priority and customer requirements.
- Identify outlets for excess and obsolete items and work with the Sales Team to reduce E&O exposure.
- Manage inventory per FIFO process.
- Select inventory to be processed based on optimal yield.
- Place and receive outside work orders.
- Make certain that adequate work is on the floor for continuous operation of equipment.
- Adhere to all RMP safety rules, regulations, and quality standards.
- Adhere to all RMP handbook policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One or more years of experience in production scheduling
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Microsoft Office proficiency, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Good organizational, problem solving, and time management skills
- Ability to analyze, track, and maintain accountabilities
- Ability to effectively multi-task
- Strong work ethic; self-motivated
- Operate with high integrity, maintaining positive relations with co-workers, customers and supplier
Preferred Qualifications
- Three or more years of experience in production scheduling
- One or more year of experience working in stainless steel industry
- Familiarity with machine capabilities
