- Set temperature controls, interval timers, selector switches, and agitation RPM according to established procedures.
- Operate tempering equipment, set times, and temperatures following required established procedures
- Make first piece check and subsequent periodic checks for proper hardness, size, and out-of-roundness to minimize spoilage.
- Where indicated, use fixtures to round parts during tempering.
- Select proper recipe and identify correct work to be run
- Make adjustments to recipe and press based on results
- Select proper tooling, be able to disassemble and reassemble press and check function
- Must be able to detect faulty operation and defective material. Report all unusual conditions to team leader / supervisor.
- Lift parts manually or by crane
- Load furnace using proper controls
- Clean high temperature oven for shutdown and / or repair
- Perform a total shutdown of equipment as applicable following established procedures in preparation for repair
- Follow established procedures during power failure to shut down equipment properly and insure equipment and employee protection and safety during power failure.
- Record required information, either in written or electronic form, pertinent to production, quality, and time records. Tag work when necessary.
- Must be able to use hand truck to move material to Rockwell check station. Check hardness of heat-treated parts with Rockwell (or other) hardness testing equipment. Check part “growth” and out-of-roundness resulting from heat treatment.
- Work from written and verbal instructions.
- Maintains continuous lifting up to 35 pounds that is being heat treated.
- Maintains oil level of furnace.
- Must understand what to do in the in the event of emergency procedures
- Perform daily inspections on equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance per instructions for machine or equipment
- Perform any other job-related duties per direction of supervisor or lead person.
- Follow all safety and housekeeping rules, policies, and procedures.
