Rolling Green Village is a not-for-profit retirement community with a 35 Year Track Record of Excellence. We are currently seeking a hospitality minded Wound care and Infection Preventionist
Candidates must have a desire to join a great team dedicated to providing outstanding care to our residents.
Candidate would need experience with both wound care and infection prevention.
The Wound Care Nurse/Infection Preventionist is responsible for the development and implementation of the wound care program and on-going educational programs for the nursing department. The Infection Preventionist is responsible for the Infection Prevention and Control Program and organizes in-services according to Infection Control trends and Federal/CDC/State requirements. S/He is responsible for the implementation of the Infection Control program per policies and procedures including collecting, analyzing infection data and trends, ensuring education, training, documentation and provision of infection control measures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities .
- Ability to perform wound assessment, reassessment and management for all residents per policy.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology and disorders of the dermal system.
- Utilizes principles of current wound management theory when providing care to residents with acute and chronic wounds.
- Demonstrates thorough knowledge of staging system of wounds.
- Develops skin care program to prevent skin breakdown of residents.
- Integrates research findings to clinical practice.
- Knowledgeable of surgical procedures and postoperative course of resident undergoing bowel surgery.
- Ability to revise plan of care as indicated by the resident’s response to treatment and evaluate overall plan for effectiveness.
- Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the resident and family regarding pain management.
- Is a resource person to physicians, nursing and other hospital staff. Provides in-services on wound prevention, wound care, ostomy care and incontinence for the nursing staff.
- Coordinates and supervises resident care as necessary.
- Operates all equipment correctly and safely.
- Inputs charges and enters documentation on all wound care residents into computer system in a timely manner to ensure compliance.
- Responsible for following and investigating facility infections, the surveillance of facility infections, antibiotic surveillance and managing of isolation practices in the facility.
- Responsible for tracking and trending infections of staff, volunteers and visitors.
- Participates in QAPI for Infection Preventionist role.
- Participates in afterhours call schedule for the nursing management team.
- Assists Director of Nursing in developing and implementing policies and procedures
Qualifications and Skills
Requires valid RN/LPN license, CPR card and must pass a criminal background check, drug screen and physical.
