Position Purpose

To pastor and create a sense of belonging for the students and families within the High School Ministry. To equip and empower volunteer leaders to minister to the high school students within the ministry. To align with the mission of RHCC to help build a foundation where students are equipped to think, love and live like Jesus. To pastor and lead the High School ministry under the direction of the Student Ministry Pastor. To reach students for Christ within our community. To collaborate within the entire pastoral Student Ministries team.

Essential Roles & Responsibilities

High School Ministry Oversite (60%)

Oversee the development of a ministry environment that builds community and relational connectedness within the High School ministry.

Develop and manage a small group ministry that helps connect students to each other, and support them as they move toward maturity in Christ. As well as prioritizing reaching students who do not follow Jesus, and helping them to discover who Jesus is and what He has done for us.

Regularly make relational contact with students outside of the church building (i.e. Campus Ministry, meeting with students off site, going to students’ extracurricular activities).

Recruit, equip and empower qualified adults to minister to High School students.

Prioritize ways to help facilitate family discipleship within the high school ministry.

Plan and implement activities, retreats, programs, gatherings, and / or camps that will attract actively involved students and non-Christians and move them closer to a relationship with God and ongoing maturity.

Develop and implement a High School curriculum plan.

Ability to rightly understand and effectively teach the Word of God within the High School ministry on Sunday gatherings and youth group nights. Equipping key volunteers to share the teaching responsibility. Also applying scripture to what students are experiencing in formal and informal times of conversions.

Pursuing helping and engaging young adult involvement within the ministry.

Leadership (30%)

Modeling the priority of attending the main gathering at RHCC.

Be personally involved in making disciples who in turn help others to become disciples.

Being an active participant in the areas in which RHCC is going after each year, and helping volunteers to be a part of this vision / battle.

Casting vision and purposes for the High School Ministry to volunteers, students and parents within the ministry.

Leading and equipping the student leadership team. Setting a vision for the team and helping the student catch the vision.

Actively learning and growing personally to be a better support to students, parents and volunteers.

Collaborating and partnering with various ministries to help create pathways for people to belong at RH.

Actively being a part of leadership development.

Pastoral (10%)

Faithfully carrying out monthly POC responsibilities.

Officiate weddings and memorial services.

Caring for students, families, and volunteers within the ministry.

Ministering to and visiting students and / or parents going through hardships or crises.

Knowledge / Skills / Experience

Bachelor’s degree including ministry or Bible education preferred

2-4 years of professional experience in a similar role

Demonstrated understanding of biblical and theological concepts for ministry use

Strong communication skills both in public settings as well as interpersonally

Demonstrated teaching gifting

Understanding, knowing and aligning to mission / vision

Excellent relational, interpersonal, problem-solving and rapport-building skills with both staff and volunteers

Excellent self-management skills; able to lead teams or work independently depending on the need

Effective leadership skills including conflict resolution, vision casting / driving to achieve results, maintaining direct report accountability, and being the change agent to align department to RHCC strategic goals & vision

Adapts effectively to changing priorities and performs effectively in pressure situations

High attention to detail and critical examination of ministry efforts

Willingness to invest in and equip volunteers

General computer proficiency and willingness to learn / adapt to current church software

Physical / Mental Abilities

Self Motivated

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Practices self-awareness and operates with integrity

Willing to accept feedback and demonstrate willingness and capacity to grow

Ability to multi-task working with multiple projects, ministry teams and people at one time

Ability to function effectively in ambiguous environment

Ability to maintain productivity under significant pressure of daily and diverse deadlines

Excellent reasoning, analytical & decision-making skills

Effective presentation and facilitation skills

Ability to analyze historical data and project future actions or outcomes

Able to travel within region to perform job duties

Ability to stand for up to 3 hours, sit for up to 8 hours, and use computer for up to 8 hours

Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
