Rolling Plains Management Corporation is seeking Maintenance Specialist to join our Community Action Agency. This is a full-time position reporting directly to the Deputy Director. The position entails mainly specific tasks and procedures that support program operational needs and requires physical ability to complete job functions. Provide ongoing maintenance duties. Regular work hours are between 8 am to 5 pm, however hours may be varied to accommodate office activities. Must be able to adapt to flexible work schedules as established by management.

JOB SUMMARY

The Maintenance Specialist is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and overall maintenance of the Agency's facilities, including childcare centers, equipment, and vehicles. This role requires strong organizational skills, communication, and a technology-savvy professional, to streamline workflows and maintain records. This position supports the Central Office and all Head Start facilities across 13 counties in North Texas, ensuring a clean, safe, and functional environment that upholds the program's high-quality standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Facilities and Equipment Maintenance:
    • Conduct regular inspections and perform repairs to ensure facilities are safe, operational, and compliant with health and safety standards.
    • Maintain the general state of cleanliness and orderliness across all RPMC facilities.
    • Address maintenance issues promptly, including electrical, plumbing, structural, and HVAC repairs.
    • Ensure program equipment is in proper working order through preventive maintenance and timely repairs.
    • Maintain an inventory of tools and equipment, ensuring availability for staff use.
    • Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule to extend the life of equipment and facilities.
  • Vehicle Maintenance:
    • Oversee the maintenance and repair of program vehicles, ensuring safety, reliability, and compliance with applicable transportation regulations.
    • Schedule and coordinate inspections and services, working with external vendors as needed.
  • Price Quoting and Vendor Coordination:
    • Obtain competitive price quotes for maintenance-related expenses, supplies, and repairs.
    • Work closely with the accounting department to track and manage costs while adhering to budgetary guidelines.
    • Establish and maintain effective communication with vendors to ensure timely and quality service.
  • Technology/Software Utilization:
    • Use technology/software for tracking maintenance schedules, submitting work orders, and maintaining accurate records as well as manage inventory, order supplies, and communicate with staff and vendors.
  • Travel and Coverage:
    • Travel across 13 counties in North Texas to address maintenance needs at various Agency and Head Start facilities.
    • Coordinate maintenance schedules to minimize disruptions to program operations.
  • Health and Safety Compliance:
    • Ensure that all facilities and equipment meet health, safety, and childcare regulatory standards.
    • Address any safety concerns promptly to prevent accidents or injuries.
  • Cleaning and Groundskeeping:
    • Oversee the cleanliness and upkeep of indoor and outdoor spaces, including playgrounds and parking areas.
    • Perform minor landscaping tasks to maintain safe and visually appealing grounds.
  • Collaboration and Support:
    • Communicate effectively with center staff, agency office employees, and management about maintenance updates and scheduling.
    • Provide support during special events or emergencies by setting up furniture, moving equipment, or addressing facility needs.
    • Assist with other tasks as assigned to support program operations and quality services.

  • Assure confidentiality of all clients and co-workers.
  • Wear personal protective equipment provided by employer and comply with all safety requirements.
  • Assure that any on-the-job accidents are reported immediately and followed-up with appropriate forms.
  • Submit timesheets accurately and timely.
  • Report any suspected fraud and abuse to the direct supervisor or other management.
  • Ensure that clients, staff, and other individuals of all races, religions, family backgrounds and cultures are treated with respect and consideration.
  • Use initiative and problem-solving within established procedural guidelines.
  • Work independently and cooperatively, using good time management skills and flexibility.
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and workshops as specified by management.

  • General knowledge of plumbing, electrical and HVAC preferred.

  • Must be willing to take and pass a drug/alcohol test and comply with the Drug Free agency policy.
  • Must be a minimum of 25 years of age to operate a company vehicle. One year may be waived provided that the individual has a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR).
  • Must possess ability to provide reliable self-transportation capable of regional travel.
  • Must possess and maintain valid Texas motor vehicle operators permit of appropriate classification and endorsement as required. Must agree to maintain a satisfactory MVR and minimum requirement of insurability as required by law. MVR background checks may be conducted by the agency.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to maintain physical condition and stamina appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include sitting, standing, walking, or riding in vehicle for extended periods of time, or other duties assigned.
  • Must be able to manipulate objects that support usage of essential equipment, tools, and objects required to perform the job
  • Must be able to safely operate machinery.
  • The physical requirements in an office environment may require lifting of boxes, supplies, equipment and the occasional adjustments of office furniture.
  • Must be able to bend and/or squat regularly.
  • Frequent handling of heavy equipment and furnishings.
  • Employee must lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. without assistance or 100 lbs. with assistance.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, stooping and repetitive arm/hand movements required.
  • Frequent lifting of 25-50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Possess ability to adapt to inclement weather conditions and/or situations.
  • Ability to drive long distances within the region.
  • Ability to perform duties and adapt to flexible work schedules as established by management.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Normal travel - ability to travel for activities such as meetings pick-up or deliver supplies, inspection of facilities, under occasional extreme conditions such as all hours of daylight in high risk or dangerous settings of heavy travel for long distance.
  • While performing this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions
