TITLE: Assistant Food & Beverage Manager
DEPARTMENT: Food and Beverage
REPORTS TO: General Manager
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manage the service of members and guests in the dining room and banquets. Supervise dining room and banquet staff. Greet and seat guests. Maintain order and cleanliness. The goal is to maximize sales and revenue through members’ satisfaction and employee engagement.
Responsibilities:
Operational Development
- Direct oversight of all members’ dining venues.
- Actively involved in sales and execution of catering events.
- Actively involved in planning and execution of member events.
- Actively involved in hiring and training all service personnel.
- Conducts daily lineups and re-caps within the department to communicate daily assignments and changes and to ensure proper work execution thereof.
- Assists with purchasing and receiving practices and procedures for products and supplies to ensure appropriate quality and price.
- Helps develop wine lists and bottle/wine sales strategies and programs.
- Help develop cocktail and beer sales strategies and programs.
- Inspects and ensures that all safety, sanitation, energy management, and preventative maintenance standards are always met in compliance with legal provisions and OSHA standards.
- Responsible for the operation of the audio-visual equipment and ensuring that personnel are trained and available to operate the equipment.
- Serves as an ad hoc member of appropriate club committees.
- Assists in developing interesting ways of promoting club functions.
- Assist in developing policies and procedures for the Food and Beverage Department.
Budget and Financial
- Assures that all standard operating procedures for revenue and cost control are in place and consistently utilized.
- Approves all product invoices before submitting them to the accounting department.
- Manages physical inventory verification and provides updated information to the accounting department.
- Works with the General Manager to establish menu prices for a la carte dining and private events.
- Works with the Controller to identify and develop operating reports of interest to the General Manager and for ongoing control of the department.
Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)
§ Culinary school diploma or degree in Food service management, or related field
§ Minimum of 2 years progressive experience in high volume food production or catering, and / or equivalent combination of relevant education and / or experience
§ Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS)
§ Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently.
§ Mastery in delegating multiple tasks.
§ Communication and leadership skills
§ Up to date with food and beverages trends and best practices
§ Ability to manage personnel and meet financial targets.
