What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Checker position at ROMA GROCERY CO INC?
Brief Job Summary: Order Checkers verify the accuracy of orders that were pulled by the Warehouse Pickers and ensure that the correct product and quantities will be shipped to the stores. They do this by verifying that the product listed on the case and number of cases matches the pick list. Furthermore, the Order Checkers document their review of each order to keep a record of the transactions. Must move safely, accurately, and promptly to insure uninterrupted supply of products. Providing this accuracy is important in maintaining an uninterrupted supply of products to the stores.
Job Functions and Responsibilities:
- Verifies quantity, quality, and labeling of products and items ready for shipment at warehouse: Counts, examines packaging for conformance to company specifications.
- Pick orders according to customer orders.
- Receive and check incoming pick tickets
- Build pallets with orders and position them to shipping docks
- Pick materials and place onto pallets, racks, and shelves.
- Confirms and compares items packed with customer's order and other identifying data.
- Tag and shrink wrap orders; place orders in staging area
- Scan barcodes ship function on the pallets before loading on truck
- Arrange orders in staging area for loading onto trucks
- May oversee workers engaged in loading and bracing material in trucks.
- Ensure allergens and chemicals are below and/or separated from any food items
- Must be safety conscious, obey safety rules, policies, and use good judgement.
- Follow local, state, federal laws, Company policies and procedures.
- Preforms Other duties as assigned
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Experience or license in handling forklifts, pallets jacks and other warehouse equipment
- Obtain certification in pallet truck and forklift operations (on or before start date in the position)
- Able to read and write in English, and solve math problems
- Able to interpret, understand, follow, and communicate instructions
- Great attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work well with others and be a team member
- Proven experience as order checker or other warehouse position
- Experience in handheld scanning devices
- Use either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes.
Run, maneuver, navigate, or drive vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, walkies, hand jacks, and/or passenger vehicles
Physical Demands:
- Able to lift up to 60 pounds
- Able to stand for long periods of time
- Able to squat, bend, crouch, lift and work in temperature controlled environment freezer and cooler warehouse
- Ability to work in fast paced environment
