The Shrine of the Sacred Heart, Washington, DC is seeking a Bookkeeper.
The Parish Bookkeeper will be responsible for internal controls over Parish Accounting and will report to the Pastor.
Duties and responsibilities
- Enter offertory and contribution deposits into proper accounts in the bookkeeping system
- Prepare and process checks/payments for accounts payable
- Process payroll including withholding requirements
- Create appropriate reports as requested by Pastor and/or finance council
- Submit annual financial report to parishioners and the Archdiocese
- Reconcile collection deposits to money counter slips
- Enter approved budgetary figures for each account
- Reconcile monthly bank statements
- Participate in weekly staff meetings and annual staff retreats
Requirements:
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in business or accounting
- Knowledge of basic accrual accounting and internal controls
- Computer aptitude to use Parish Soft Accounting and the HRIS system, CHRIS
- Working knowledge of Excel and Word
- Bilingual Spanish and English preferred
