About the Principal Position
Reporting to the Pastor, the Principal is the Chief Academic Officer and will provide dynamic, executive leadership in directing the daily operations of the school, inclusive of significant program and logistical coordination commonly found in excellent schools. The principal supervises the assistant principal, department chairs, faculty, staff, program directors, and coaches who work within the school’s academic and co-curricular programs. A practicing Catholic, the principal will help foster a community of trust, respect, and mutual concern rooted in the mission, vision, and core values of the school. Paramount to the role will be one’s ability to quickly understand, embrace, and strengthen the culture of St. Genevieve Catholic School, respecting and enhancing the rich traditions of the past.
General Responsibilities
The Principal coordinates and executes the school’s educational programs, policies, and accreditation processes. Specific duties include:
- With missionary zeal, lead the school on an excellent spiritual path
- Oversee curriculum development and assessment to strengthen student outcomes
- Foster faculty and staff unity and foster an efficient use of school resources
- Establish high academic standards across all grade levels
- Analyze student performance to inform strategies aimed at improving academic outcomes
- Through hiring practices, supportive professional development, and transparent evaluation procedures, ensure a talented, mission oriented faculty is in place to support student needs
- In collaboration with the diocese and with the school leadership team, assist in efforts to increase enrollment and improve student retention rates
- Develop and enforce policies in the faculty handbook, inclusive of maintaining proper student discipline procedures
- Direct and collaborate with staff to ensure the co-curricular needs of students are met, including emotional/social and extracurricular interests

He/she must foster an inclusive environment built on trust, compassion, and humility, ensuring approachability and accountability. A deep alignment with the mission of St. Genevieve Catholic School is essential, particularly committed to the traditions of the school. The candidate must possess a Master’s Degree and possess a valid teaching certificate, have the ability to complete Safe Environment Training, and must be a practicing Catholic who approaches Catholic school leadership with missionary zeal. The candidate must be a skilled communicator, adept at working with diverse stakeholders while demonstrating the diplomacy required to balance varied interests within the school community. Strong interpersonal skills are paramount.
Among other strengths and experience the school seeks are:
- Experience in Catholic Education
- Prior teaching experience
- At least five years of administrative leadership
- Experience in the creation of relevant professional development
- A deep understanding of teacher observation, supervision, and evaluation
- Strong academic credentials
- Strong awareness of educational technology, inclusive of emerging trends
- Attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, sound financial management skills, and a strong work ethic
- Must be able to successfully complete Safe Environment training
