Duties and Responsibilities
Our Lady of Perpetual Help Academy in Corpus Christi is seeking exceptional individuals for the following position: Full-Time Teacher’s Aide. Our Catholic Mission is to develop the whole child in a Christ-centered environment to become a loving, productive, citizen in today’s world.
Ministerial Character:
The Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church (The Diocese) entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, the employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.
Responsibilities:

- As an integral part of your ministry for the Church as carried out in this position, support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both your professional and personal life
- Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Continuously grow in your ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
- The teacher aide will provide assistance to the teacher(s) as the instructional program necessitates
- Supervise individual students and small groups of students as learning activities are implemented
- Assist in preparing instructional materials and bulletin boards
- Able to use multimedia material and equipment to reinforce lesson presentations
- Perform clerical work as needed
- Supervise students during activities, as assigned by the teacher(s) or the Principal
- Plan instruction/activities together with the teacher(s)
- Attend in-services and workshops as directed by the Principal
- Performs other duties as directed by the teacher(s) and/or the Principal

Qualifications
Paraprofessionals/Aides/Classroom Assistants (i.e., Is an individual who provides instructional support under the direct supervision of a qualified teacher)
Minimum Requirements:
1. High school diploma or the equivalent General Education Diploma (GED)
2. Preferred experience/training to perform the task assigned by the principal
Experience may include: Day camps, youth groups, private schools, licensed day-care centers, or similar experience
Additional Requirements:
- Valid Texas Driver's License
- Must submit to employment required screenings including a criminal history background check, motor vehicle record check, and drug screening
- Complete certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office of Safe Environment and Child & Family Resources
- Position requires adherence to Diocesan policies and procedures
