The Diocese of Corpus Christi is seeking a qualified Human Resources Generalist to support the mission and services of the Office of Human Resources. The primary responsibilities of the Human Resources Generalist are to provide personnel services and technical support for the Office of Human Resources. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with and providing guidance on state and federal laws and diocesan policies and procedures for all diocesan locations. This is a full-time, exempt position eligible for medical insurance and 403b thrift plan retirement benefits.
Ministerial Character:
The Diocesan Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church (the Diocese) entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as the Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Diocesan Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators, who are clerics, religious, and lay people. He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, this position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.
Responsibilities:

- As an integral part of the ministry for the Church, this position will support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of corpus Christi in both professional and personal life
- Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic church
- Continuously grows in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
- Responsible for maintaining compliance with the requirements of local, state and federal government rules and regulations as they apply to employees throughout the Diocese
- Maintains and safeguards personnel records and other documents for the diocese as appropriate
- Assists religious and lay staff with personnel related questions and issues
- Assists with departmental accounting including billing for services and preparing disbursements for payments
- Facilitates new hire onboarding process including pre-employment screening (criminal history background checks, motor vehicle checks, drug screening)
- Assists with benefits enrollment and management
- Assists with personnel actions and assignments tracking in designated software programs
- Collaborates with other Chancery departments to ensure effective operations of the diocese and policy compliance
- Maintains supply inventory for department staff
- Prepares appropriate correspondence for department as needed
- Keeps Director of Human Resources informed of any issues or areas of concern
- Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree preferred; experience may substitute on a year for year basis
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with increasingly progressive responsibilities
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with diocesan policies and procedures
- Valid Texas drivers license
