Description
St. Pius X Catholic School is seeking a full-time teacher. The Classroom Teacher plans, guides, and evaluates students' learning process. The Catholic school teacher will adhere to the NCEA Code of Ethics for the Catholic school teacher, which specifies the attitude and the practice of the teacher in relation to the student, the parent, the community, and the profession.
Ministerial Character:
The Diocesan Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church (“the Diocese”) entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as the Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Diocesan Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators, who are clerics, religious, and lay people. He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, this position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:

- As an integral part of the ministry for the Church, this position will support and uphold the philosophy of the Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal life
- Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Continually grow in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, trainings sessions, and reflection activities as directed
- Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school
- Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Plan for instruction with logically sequenced objectives based on the adopted curriculum and submit plans according to the school policies
- Provide appropriate material and resources for students to engage in learning
- Use effective instructional methods and models according to professional standard practice
- Use varied assessment tools to perform both formative and summative assessments
- Provide instruction and assessment for understanding
- Maintained current and accurate records according to school policies
- Practice positive, consistent discipline in the management of the classroom
- Communicate with parents regarding academic, behavioral, and safety concerns
- Maintain a work schedule that maximizes availability to students, parents, and staff
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the basic teachings of the Catholic Church
- Knowledge of subjects taught, instructional methods and strategies, and curriculum differentiation
- Knowledge of child development, learning, and behavior
- Skill in using job-appropriate technology such as Google applications
- Skill in critical thinking and planning
- Skill in demonstrating professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits
- Skill in collaborating with peers to enhance the work environment and support instructional planning
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding school matters
- Ability to manage student behavior in a classroom setting
- Ability to work well with others in the school community
- Ability to conference with parents upon request and respond to messages in a timely manner
- Ability to respond to individual learning needs
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree, valid state certification, or the equivalent, as specified by the Texas Catholic Conference Education Department and the Diocese of Corpus Christi. Non-Catholic teachers are required to have a knowledge of the Catholic faith and support the goals of Catholic tradition in education.
Additional Qualifications:
- Valid Texas driver's license
- Must successfully complete pre-employment screening including criminal history background check, motor vehicle record review (MVR), and drug screening
- Certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office for Safe Environment and Child & Family Resources is required
- Must adhere to all Diocesan policies and procedures through entire employment period
