Saint Matthew’s School in Virginia Beach, VA is currently seeking a 2nd Grade Classroom Teacher’s Assistant. The Teacher Assistant supports the Teacher by helping to create a caring and safe environment for the children and assisting in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. S/he must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment. The successful candidate must be an enthusiastic role model who is passionate about sharing the Catholic faith.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the teacher in implementing the daily program.
- Treating each child with dignity and respect.
- Recognizing and considering the individual needs of each child.
- Helping children to learn and think creatively to solve problems.
- Supervising the classroom according to the plans of the teacher when necessary.
- Fulfilling the role of the teacher in his/her absence
- Sharing with the teacher responsibility for maintaining the classroom.
