Job description
Due to our continuing phenomenal growth, Roman Empire Logistics is looking for a Human Resources/Payroll professional to support our team and assist in the management of our HR department. If you reside in the New York City Area and are proficient with payroll, onboarding and general HR duties then this is a great opportunity for you to join our team! This is primarily a hybrid position where you work from home some days and MUST work some days in our client facilities located near LGA and JFK, generally a couple of days a week. Must be flexible. Must be available to work weekends and most holidays, as we operate 360 days per year.
Duties
This position reports to the CHRO and aids in the day-to-day operation of the department to ensure high efficiency.
Handling employment-related inquiries from applicants, team members, and management, referring to complex and/or sensitive matters.
Processing payroll cycles on a weekly basis. Some benefits administration assistance.
Managing and assisting the recruiting team
Collaborating with hiring managers.
Monitoring the collection, completion, and filing of all required documentation in company systems.
Reviewing, tracking, and documenting compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory requirements.
Managing and assisting the disciplinary team
Collecting documentation, reviewing written documents, tracking disciplinary actions in BambooHR.
Preparing reports to ensure disciplinary coaching sessions are being held by managers.
Attending and participating in team member disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
Providing support to management in conducting periodic performance evaluations.
Take leadership of training efforts for our supervisor teams.
Culture Monitoring: being aware of the collective mood and finding ways to maintain and improve our team-based culture.
Proactively Explore/Implement things that will cultivate the REL culture, in our company and our community, i.e.: Identifying the stuff that supports our values, makes people happy, helps productivity, and increases community satisfaction.
Provide support with additional ad hoc duties and HR-related projects as required.
Requirements

Ability to work individually in a self-directed manner, and as part of a team. with a wide range of responsibilities.
Strong time management skills with the ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments with a high degree of accuracy and a proven ability to meet deadlines
Exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent problem solving and organizational skills.
Capability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, diplomacy, and the highest level of discretion.
Proficiency in G-Suite, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
Familiarity with HRIS programs, ADP Workforce Now and BambooHR preferred.
Bilingual is not required but preferred.
Education and experience
Associate or bachelors degree in human resources management or a related field a must.
3 years of experience in HR, with some exposure to team member relations.
2 years of payroll processing experience.
General knowledge of New York City and New York State employment laws and best practices.
Flexibility to work extended hours and travel throughout our facilities in Queens, NY.
