- Perform field audits/observations, develop corrective actions from audit/observation findings and track corrective actions to completion
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations
- Assist in post-injury management
- Perform or assist in near miss, equipment damage, theft and injury investigations
- Administer safety orientation program to acquaint employees with site conditions, safe work practices, policies and procedures
- Coordinating safety activities with customer, as necessary
- Conducting required safety training in support of project needs
- Develop site-specific safety processes and procedures, as necessary, to support the overall project plan
- Attend and participate in project safety meetings
- Completing and filing timely safety reports, as required
- Coordinate with crews to complete JHAs for safety sensitive tasks, such crane lifts, confined space entry, trenching/excavating, and energized equipment/LOTO.
- Ensure statutes, regulations, and codes are clearly understood and met
- Intervene to stop any acts or processes which are unsafe or do not comply with OHSA
- Implement preventative measures to ensure unsafe processes are not repeated
- Ensure all personnel follow all personal safety precautions (hardhats, protective goggles, etc.)
- Represent our Company in a professional, safe and efficient manner
- Other duties as assigned
- Associates Degree or higher in Occupational Safety and Health or have experience in construction safety and compliance programs.
- 10 years in the Construction Industry required
- 5 years of experience in a Safety related role required
- OSHA Outreach Construction Trainer required
- Solid knowledge of OSHA, federal, state and local statutes and ordinances on safety and DOT regulations
- Self-Starter, well organized, forward thinker, ability to manage conflict resolution & hold others accountable
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- The ability to write basic reports and follow up on issues.
- Past experience with auditing and/or project managing software
- Up to 30% of self-scheduled travel between the NC and SC markets
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
- Subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and outside
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must adhere to company screenings
- Must be able to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting and lifting
- Must be able to speak English and hear to communicate
- Must be able to use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull: objects, materials, controls and tools
- Must be able to pick up, lift, carry and move up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work off of platforms/scaffolding (using the appropriate fall protection requirements)
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, gloves and safety toe, construction-grade work boots
