What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Special Education Summer Program position at Rome City School District?
The Rome City School District is currently accepting applications for the Director of Pre-K -12 Supported Learning (Special Education) Summer Program.
Summer School will run from July 7, 2025 through August 15, 2025. The program will take place at both Ridge Mills Elementary School and Rome Free Academy and operate from 8am-12pm, Monday - Friday.
CAS and Special Education experience preferred.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Conduct screening, hiring, and assignment of summer program special education staff.
- Assign classroom make up with student needs.
- Coordinate, plan, and implement academic activities with fidelity for all children in the special education program.
- Plan appropriate academic and daily living skills experiences to meet student needs.
- Plan a master schedule for the summer program.
- Coordinate transportation needs between three sites.
- Work closely with the teacher coordinator to build programmatic needs.
- Supervise the maintenance of accurate records and data on the academic process and attendance of students.
- Conduct staff meetings as necessary for the proper function of the summer program.
- Maintain high standards for students and positive behavioral supports.
- Assess all summer program activities and provide recommendations for the improvement of future summer programming.
