POSITION TITLE :
Health Information Management (HIM) Release of Information Team Lead
POSITION SUMMARY :
Supervises all Medical Legal Correspondents in release of information (ROI) duties. Assures compliant and timely processing of all internal and external ROI requests from mail, telephone, fax, or in-person patient requests. Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ROI Manager exhibits strong leadership skills and assures team members are successful in their duties. Knowledgeable in privacy and confidentiality regulations specifically surrounding release of protected health information (PHI). Serves as liaison between HIM and third party ROI vendor (Verisma).
EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION, AND LICENSURE :
Associates degree required. Bachelors degree preferred. Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) preferred. Notary Public or eligible preferred.
Ability to type and navigate multiple computer software systems required.
Ability to use a scanner, fax machine, or copier required.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED :
Must possess critical thinking and analytical skills. Must possess excellent attention to detail as duties involve releasing patients' PHI. Must be able to concentrate for extended periods of time with occasional interruptions. Must understand and always follow Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) privacy and confidentiality regulations related to releasing PHI.
Salary : $28 - $32
