What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Merchandise / Retail Manager position at Rommel Harley-Davidson?
Rommel Harley-Davidson is currently seeking a General Merchandise Manager to lead a successful team in our Salisbury, Maryland location. The position is responsible for our General Merchandise Department, which consists of premium products such as motor clothes & footwear, accessories, collectibles, gifts, housewares and more.
Essential Functions:
- Manage an efficient and profitable retail environment for the General Merchandise department. Act as an ambassador to the dealership, and the Harley-Davidson brand.
- Ensure all merchandise and displays are in a neat and appealing fashion for our customers.
- Supervise and maintain an accurate inventory management & control system. Establish procedures for ordering, receiving, logging into inventory, displaying, selling and restocking all merchandise.
- Develop a keen eye for ordering product that will be best sellers and increase profit margins. Strategic rebalancing of products to ensure a fast-moving balanced inventory of General Merchandise.
- Devise new product and sales promotions. In conjunction with the Marketing Director, manage department seasonal promotions (i.e. holiday display themes, in-store events, outdoor events, etc.).
- Communicate regularly with the Harley-Davidson Motor Company regarding policies, product availability, product style options, new product line studies, etc.
- Develop monthly and annual objectives for the department in collaboration with General Manager. Provide sales data, and other reports to management.
- Recruit, train and mentor employees to become successful sales representatives, while delivering superior customer service.
- Maintain employee work schedules to ensure proper staffing during store hours and offsite events.
- Attend in-house, virtual and off-site training sessions to keep current with merchandising trends & inventory control issues.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Retail and inventory management experience required.
- Harley-Davidson© retail management a major plus.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to provide clear, effective, positive and consistent leadership.
- Ability to quickly retain product knowledge sold by the dealership.
- Experience with point-of-sale management computer software.
