Food Service Worker
Definition
Under direct supervision, the Food Service Worker performs a wide variety of tasks related to food preparation, service, and clean up for Romoland School District; and to do other related work as required.
Examples of Duties
•Cleans and peels fruits and vegetables;
•Makes sandwiches;
•Prepares meats, salads, beverages, and pastries;
•Serves lunches to students and staff;
•Cleans utensils, steam tables, dining tables, kitchen refrigerators and other equipment;
•Assists in keeping kitchen in sanitary condition;
•Stocks and sets up supplies;
•Operates, safely, routine kitchen appliances and equipment;
•Assists in collecting and counting money;
•Completes necessary paperwork as required.
Qualifications
Knowledge of: Sanitation practices related to preparing, cooking and serving food; operation of kitchen equipment and utensils; simple record-keeping methods; basic math; health and safety practices; resolving problems connected with the serving of large numbers of people; and roper lifting techniques.
Ability to: Understand and follow oral and written directions; read, write, and speak English; understand and adhere to acceptable sanitation programs; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; be neat and clean at all times; communicate in a courteous, tactful manner, utilizing good judgment; exhibit integrity and resourcefulness; accurately handle and account for money received.
Education and Experience: High School education preferably with diploma or equivalent, or work related experience.
Licenses and/or Certificates: Eligible to obtain a valid Food Handler Certificate (SAFE) at time of employment through the county health department; TB and fingerprint clearance required.
