Position Description: Drama Specialist
General Responsibility: Plan, organize and implement a Drama Program for a Camp serving Campers with various disabilities and disadvantaged youth.
Qualifications:
Be 18 years or older High school diploma or GED required; one or more years of college preferred. Experience in the operations of camping programs as Camper or staff. Knowledge and experience with working with Campers in a supervised environment. Organized with good verbal and written communication skills. Possess strong leadership skills; experience in supervising and training others preferred. Emotionally mature, willing to accept responsibility. Exhibit the ability to place the needs of the Campers and the Camp above their own. Team player that can relate positively to all staff, volunteers and Campers. Be in good health, vitality and physical stamina.
Specific Responsibilities:
Be responsible for overall operations of the Drama program including activity planning, implementation and safety management. Develop a Drama supply list for Camp Director approval. Maintain a high quality of instruction for both campers and client groups. Attend and participate in pre-camp meetings and pre-camp preparation work. Assist with the overall Camp program, including the planning and implementation of Camp programs, development of weekly schedules and camper satisfaction. Develop Drama activities that are innovative, creative and exciting. Ensure that programs reflect the development level of each Camper, as well as, meeting the goals of Camp Ronald McDonald’s Mission
Train and supervise staff, volunteers and those assigned to assist you. Arrange and maintain Drama area in orderly manner, inventory and direct clean-up operations of the Drama area on a daily basis. Enforce camp rules consistently. (Develop, implement and post rules for your assigned area.) Rotate camp responsibilities in conjunction with other Program Specialists under the direction of the Camp Director and Program Director including meal supervision, twilight activities, campfires, closing ceremonies and special events. Assumes all other duties and assignments deemed appropriate by the Camp Director and Program Director.
Essential Responsibilities:
Physically able to accompany Campers on all Drama Activities. Be able to communicate with Campers and provide instructions. Visual ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity. Abilities to observe Camper behavior, assess it appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures and apply appropriate behavior management techniques. Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Cognitive and communications abilities to plan and conduct the activity to achieve Camper ability and development objectives.
End Results:
Achieve the goals and objectives of Camp, in the lives of Campers and in your own personal life, by operating a creative, safe and fun Drama program. Ensure that Campers acquire a sincere appreciation of Drama, achieving an increased sense of self-esteem related to their own creativity. Make a positive effect on the life of each Camper you come into contact with and strive to provide each Camper with a fun and rewarding Camp experience.

Stipend: $2560/month Meals and Housing
