Primary Purpose:
The Community Engagement Manager leads RMHC’s Portland-based community engagement strategy, focusing on cultivating meaningful relationships with corporate partners, volunteers, and local businesses to expand RMHC’s presence and foster increased support for its mission. This role proactively seeks opportunities to build community awareness through strategic outreach, networking events, and impactful storytelling.
Primary Responsibilities:
Third-Party Fundraising and Raise Love Campaigns:
- Lead and Manage: Serve as the main contact for the execution of Portland-based major third-party and Raise Love fundraising events, driving revenue generation and ensuring alignment with RMHC’s mission and fundraising objectives.
- Outreach and Development: Identify and cultivate new community events and partnership opportunities to expand RMHC’s support base.
- Volunteer Coordination: Collaborate with the Volunteer Manager to recruit, train, and supervise volunteers for third-party events, ensuring effective support and successful execution.
- Relationship Management: Work with relationship managers to transition community partners into long-term supporters, ensuring effective cultivation and stewardship.
Round-Up for RMHC Initiative:
- Program Promotion: Collaborate with local McDonald’s restaurants to promote the Round-Up for RMHC initiative and stewarding local store managers to encourage and drive revenue through this program.
- Community Awareness: Develop and implement strategies to raise awareness about the Round-Up for RMHC program, increasing participation and support from the local community.
In-Kind Donation Drives & Programming Initiatives:
- Programming Initiative Management: Oversee the planning and execution of major in-kind community drives, such as the Summer Toy Drive, Holiday Toy Drive, and Send Love, ensuring successful collection and distribution of donations to RMHC families.
- Community Collaboration: Work with community partners, volunteers, and donors to coordinate in-kind donation efforts, alleviating expenses and maximizing impact.
Networking and Outreach:
- Event Participation: Represent RMHC at networking events, community gatherings, and other public forums to raise awareness, build relationships, and promote RMHC’s mission.
- Presentations, Tours and Ambassadorship: Conduct community presentations, lead tours of RMHC facilities, and create opportunities for stakeholders to engage with RMHC’s mission, fostering goodwill and excitement about RMHC’s work.
Metrics and Reporting:
- Performance Tracking: Establish clear metrics to measure the success of engagement efforts, including financial targets, volunteer contributions, and partnership outcomes.
- Reporting and Analysis: Provide detailed reports and analyses to leadership, highlighting progress, challenges, and opportunities for growth.
Skills Required:
- Community Engagement Expertise: Proven experience in community engagement, fundraising, or donor relations, with a strong record of building and maintaining successful stakeholder relationships.
- Organizational Skills: Outstanding organizational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.

- Partnership Development: Experience in cultivating corporate and community partnerships and managing volunteers.
Work Environment:
- Office-based with frequent off-site community event locations.
