Position Title: House Night & Weekend Supervisor

Reports To: Senior Director of Family Experience

Classification: Non-Exempt

Salary Range: $15/hour

Hours: Minimum number of expected shifts per month is two, four shifts is average.

One shift is defined as:

Night Shift: 5:00pm – 8:00am Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday*

Weekend Shift: 5:00pm – 5:00pm Friday through Saturday or Saturday through Sunday*

* There is a bedroom to sleep overnight after office closes, this role on call during those overnight hours for emergencies, guest lockouts, etc.

Holiday coverage is required but is allocated equitably across all Supervisors.

Daily shift coverage in absence of day staff as scheduled.

Job Purpose

Since 1993, RMHC-Madison has been keeping families with sick children close to each other while they receive medical care at area hospitals. Through three core programs – the Ronald McDonald House, the Ronald McDonald Family Room at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital-Madison, and Ronald McDonald Care Mobile – we provide access to quality healthcare to thousands of families annually and ensure they have the support needed to fully participate in their child’s care.

RMHC provides a home-away-from home with comfortable rooms, meals and assistance for families travelling hours, even a plane ride away from their child’s medical care. The House Night & Weekend Supervisor advances our mission by ensuring an inviting, friendly, and comfortable atmosphere for families, staff, volunteers and visitors.

Job Responsibilities

  • Receive and register all guests in accordance with Admissions Policy
  • Uphold and enforce all House Rules and Policies.
  • Maintain list of anticipated arrivals. Schedule occupancy and make room arrangements.
  • Supervise volunteers and provide them with a rewarding volunteer experience.
  • Communicate clearly with staff, volunteers, and families.
  • Close office at 9pm, open office at 8am Mon-Fri. Sat-Sun open office at 9am.
  • Maintain all records and files pertaining to guests, occupancy, room donations, inventory, maintenance and supplies accurately.
  • Provide an atmosphere of support, compassion and confidentiality to guests while still maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Monitor condition of building, operation of building, mechanical and security systems, and operation of RMHC van. Communicate any needed repairs to the Maintenance Specialist.
  • Efficiently update and enter House Guest information into the Guest Database.
  • Direct House evacuation or shelter in place plans in event of a fire or weather emergency.
  • Arrange for emergency maintenance repairs as needed while on duty per supervising staff’s instructions.
  • Communicate directly with day staff regarding status of the House, guests, and any other relevant information.
  • Attend staff information sessions.
  • Conduct tours of the House as needed.
  • Complete any additional tasks assigned by the Senior Director of Family Experience relating to the efficient operation of the House.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license in the State of Wisconsin
  • Natural ability to demonstrate a caring attitude towards guests, volunteers, donors and other people who interact with the organization.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well as part of a small, dynamic team, as well as independently and remotely.
  • Demonstrates strong judgement skills and attention to detail while meeting deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
  • Knowledge and skills working with a diverse clientele.

Preferred

  • Proficiency in a second language.
  • Experience with facility maintenance management software.
  • Previous experience working in facility maintenance.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Position is part-time with primary hours falling during normal business hours with occasional night and weekend hours according to needs of the organization and scheduled events.
  • Position works in an office environment that is set in a home-like environment.
  • Some light housekeeping and light lifting (up to 40 pounds) may be required.
  • Ability to access all areas of the House and grounds, including going up and down stairs.
  • Other physical demands include: walking, sitting, standing, bending, climbing, and using hands to, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balancing; stooping; talking, hearing, reading, counting, and writing.
  • Ongoing daily use of computers and telephone and must be able to work with frequent interruption and low to moderate noise level.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
  • Travel for various activities locally required.
