The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities of St. Louis is to provide comfort, care and a home-away-from-home for families of seriously ill children. Our objective is to enable families to practice family-centered care by providing them with all of the basic comforts of home.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of St. Louis has a part-time Dishwasher / Porter position open. This position is part of a mission-focused team of professionals providing compassion and hospitality to families with seriously ill children.
The position is responsible for assisting RMHCSTL’s Chef in the daily meal service program, and the organization and cleanliness of our kitchen.
This position supports compliance with local, state, and federal laws, regulations, safety, and sanitation procedures.
As part of RMHC the position collaborates with the team members to achieve position and organization goals in support of the RMHC mission and Core Values.
Basic Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Hepatitis A vaccination record
- Previous experience in a restaurant or food service environment is preferred
- Knowledge of food handling practices and sanitation standards
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- A positive attitude with a willingness to help others in a team-oriented atmosphere
- A background in hospitality or customer service is advantageous for this role
- Ability to read and understand work instructions and assignments
- Must be disciplined and self-motivated
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and servers to ensure smooth operations
Essential Functions
Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans using commercial dishwashing equipment and put away promptly in the appropriate locations. Rewash dishes if needed to ensure they are clean before delivering.

Physical Demands
Must be able to concentrate and remain focused while handling multiple tasks, responsibilities and projects. Must be able to perform bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, and lifting of moderate to heavy weight material up to 50 lbs. Must be able to frequently climb stairs, including up to 4 flights, and frequently walk distances up to approximately 80 yards. Must be able to travel between RMH locations as needed.
Working Conditions
This job operates in a kitchen environment, housed with equipment such as an oven, stove, dishwasher, slicer, coffee machine, steamer, fryer, mixer, and commercial grade knives. The employee is frequently exposed to heat, steam, fire and noise. This job also operates in a professional work environment.
