The primary responsibility of the Volunteer Services Assistant is to support the Volunteer Services Manager and the Family Activities Manager with scheduling, orientation and supervision of both individual volunteers, cooking groups and community volunteers to ensure maximum support of services provided at the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas (RMHD). The assistant also serves as a liaison to volunteer agencies and other groups within the community, developing and maintaining open channels of communication. The Volunteer Services Assistant is knowledgeable of the mission, goals, and objectives of RMHD. Assists Family Activities Manager and Volunteer Services Manager with the following : Assists with recruitment, training and supervision of individual and group volunteers. Assists with scheduling weekly volunteers, ensuring appropriate volunteer coverage to meet the needs of RMHD. Supports the “Meals That Heal” cooking group program. Communicates with the groups prior to arriving for a guest family activity to ensure all their needs are addressed. Coordinates with staff to provide information to guest families on current community activities and events. Assists with the volunteer calendar and shared calendars with detailed contact information. Helps to maintain accurate volunteer records and roster. Assists with maintaining volunteer and activity spaces and volunteer sign-in areas to ensure a pleasant environment. Assists with volunteer needs and encourages support of volunteers placed. Communicates with volunteers to ensure they understand and are comfortable with all RMHD policies and procedures and are aware of any special circumstances. Process in-kind donations including thank you notes and recording in database as needed. Community Relations : Assists in identifying, scheduling and preparing opportunities for RMHD to attend community volunteer fairs. Assists in coordinating the House Wish List program and monthly reconciliation. Promotes community awareness of the mission and objectives of RMHD. Family Relations : Demonstrates an environment of warmth, compassion, and support to always ensure a nurturing atmosphere. Communicates and promotes all activities to the families.
