Description
The Electrical Project Manager will be responsible for planning and overseeing the electrical aspects of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on large utility sized renewal projects. A strong background in electrical engineering, a deep understanding of solar energy systems, and the ability to manage electrical design, installation, and commissioning from concept to completion.
Roles and responsibilities:
Collaborate with clients, project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure the successful integration of electrical systems into the overall construction project. Provide technical leadership and oversight during all phases, from initial design to final commissioning.
- Solar System Design & Engineering:
Lead the design and engineering of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for Utility Sized Renewable Energy Projects, including system layouts, electrical diagrams, and interconnection plans. Ensure all designs meet client requirements, performance expectations, and applicable codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE, UL). - Site Assessments & Feasibility Studies:
Perform site evaluations to assess solar potential, including load analysis, shading analysis, and energy production forecasting. Provide recommendations based on the site conditions and performance objectives. - Electrical Design Integration:
Support the development of electrical designs for solar PV systems, including power distribution, inverters, battery storage integration, substation, interconnection, monitoring systems, and grounding. Ensure proper integration with the grid’s existing electrical infrastructure and compliance with utility requirements. - Compliance & Permitting:
Ensure all solar electrical systems comply with local, state, and national codes, including the National Electrical Code (NEC), OSHA safety standards, and utility regulations. Prepare and submit permitting documentation, including interconnection applications and design packages. - Construction Support & Oversight:
Provide ongoing technical support to construction teams during installation. Perform site inspections, troubleshoot electrical issues, and ensure that all work is performed according to design specifications, safety standards, and quality expectations. - Testing, Commissioning & Performance Monitoring:
Oversee the testing and commissioning of electrical systems, including verifying system performance, electrical connections, and safety functions. Conduct post-installation monitoring to ensure systems operate at peak efficiency. - Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain detailed project documentation, including system specifications, test reports, and project updates. Provide regular progress reports to clients and internal teams. - Training, Support, & Warranty:
Provide training to construction and maintenance teams on solar electrical systems, as well as ongoing technical support post-installation for troubleshooting and system maintenance.
Qualifications
• Five (5) years of experience in construction, solar, and electrical fields.
• High School Diploma
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent years of experience preferred.
The Location
Roncelli is headquartered in Sterling Heights, Michigan. This position reports to Sterling Heights, however the ability to travel to jobsites throughout the state of Michigan will be required of this position from time to time.

WORK ENVIORNMENT:

Primarily field-based, with frequent visits to construction sites.

Occasional office work for design and planning, along with project meetings.

May involve long hours and occasional travel to multiple project sites.

Salary : $125,000 - $160,000
