About the Role:
As the Director of Safety, youll play a critical role in creating and managing our comprehensive safety programs across all construction sites and company operations. You will lead initiatives that embed a proactive safety culture throughout the company, ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and provide expert guidance to mitigate risks while fostering a safe environment for all employees. Collaborate closely with leadership and field teams to align safety practices with operational goals and be a key driver in continuous improvement and risk management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Program Development and Management:
- Design, implement, and manage safety programs to create a safe work environment across all sites and company operations.
- Develop safety policies in compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other relevant regulations.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections, enforce PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) use, and deliver safety training for employees at all levels.
- Develop fleet and equipment safety protocols, including maintenance schedules, equipment inspections, and operator safety procedures.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Oversee OSHA inspections, prepare and submit required documentation, and ensure projects meet all local, state, and federal safety regulations.
- Build relationships with regulatory agencies to streamline compliance efforts and address any safety inquiries.
- Fostering a Proactive Safety Culture:
- Champion a safety-first mindset, driving a proactive approach to safety at all levels of the company.
- Lead and mentor the safety team, encouraging accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement across departments.
- Risk Mitigation and Incident Management:
- Identify potential hazards, implement control measures, and perform root-cause analyses for incidents and near-misses.
- Oversee corrective action plans, ensuring updates to safety protocols and conducting retraining as necessary.
- Collaboration and Leadership:
- Work with project managers, HR, and site supervisors to integrate safety goals with business objectives.
- Serve as a liaison between senior management and field teams to promote effective communication and alignment on safety initiatives.

Tools and Equipment Operated:
- Personal computer, tablet, mobile device, and office equipment (copier, calculator, desk phone)
What You Bring:
- Bachelors degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Seven years of experience in safety management within construction or related industries.
- Proven track record in designing and implementing safety programs in a multi-site construction environment.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and industry regulations and compliance requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), or similar certification.
- Extensive experience within construction, civil engineering, or heavy equipment industries.
Key Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of business ethics and best practices for workplace safety
- Skilled in conducting site audits, identifying risks, and implementing corrective actions
- Ability to build positive relationships with regulatory agencies and prepare regulatory reports
- Skilled in using safety management software, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office
- Strong interpersonal skills, with a focus on leadership, influence, and team engagement
- Expertise in root-cause analysis, data analysis, and problem-solving
Special Requirements:
- Must pass a background check, drug test, and motor vehicle check
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and access confined spaces
