Full Job Description

Commercial Roofing Experience/Non-Experience $17.66 - $55.21/ hour. The United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers and Allied Workers Local No. 149 are actively looking for Roofers and Waterproofers of all experience levels. There are multiple signatory union roofing contractors in Mid-Michigan Area (Flint/Saginaw/Bay City). This is all commercial and industrial flat roofing. However, a few contractors have steep-slope divisions. Monday - Friday work. Weekend work is optional. If you are hardworking, reliable, and punctual individual who is looking to start a union career this is the job for you. This career is for individuals who are more hands on. We will train you at no cost. No experience necessary, but if you do, we will be able to place you higher upon evaluation of your skills. We are a no judgement union hall. No criminal conviction discrimination.

Benefits are covered by the designated signatory contractor and at no expense to the applicant. Benefits are fully paid family health and welfare contributions, monthly pension for retirement.

Requirements

• Reliable Transportation
• 18 Years of Age
• Will be evaluated on skills upon applying if have previous roofingexperience (If needed)

Work Location: Flint, Saginaw, and Bay City. Mid-Michigan Jurisdiction include Arenac, Bay, Clare, Genesee, Gladwin, Gratiot, Huron, Iosco, Isabella, Lapeer, Midland, Ogemaw, Roscommon, Saginaw, Shiawassee, and Tuscola Counties.

· New Apprentices have the opportunity to advance skills completing 1 course per year at our state-of-the-art training facility. One night a week. 2-hour training development. Raises issued on completed course requirements.

· Local 149 Apprenticeship Training Program is firmly in place to offer instruction not only on the job, but in a hands-on classroom setting, as well. Located in Clio, MI. Apprenticeship training can be completed in 4 years making you a Union Roofing Journeyworker. Earn while you learn! We will train you at no cost.

· We have a number of signatory contractor owners and superintendents who are or were active members of Local 149. With perseverance and determination these roofers have elevated to the top of our industry. Starting from Probationary Apprentices to a Foreman, Local 149 has many opportunities to display your skills and rise through the ranks of our signatory contractors.

Summary:

· Journeyworkers and Apprentices shall receive the established local 149 wage scale when working in another local’s jurisdiction. This wage will also withstand working out-of-state.

· If you decide to change locals, your Journeyworkers or Apprentice card will uphold throughout the country. Wages and Benefits will change when transferring to another Roofers Local.
